While I was pruning the fruit trees this afternoon, I noticed a lot of flies and bees buzzing around the plum blossoms. After I finished pruning, I grabbed my camera and photographed a honey bee. The bees are fairly easy because they don't seem to mind me sticking a camera in their face. The biggest challenge with the bees is getting them in focus at close range because they move all the time. The flies are another story. They are skittish and don't much like having a giant piece of glass shoved in their face. So I had to sneak up on the flies, focus and snap before they flew away. The wind was blowing, which made getting these critters in focus even more difficult. In the end, however, I did get a few focused shots!
Diné, our Navajo kitty, likes to pose for the camera. Both she and Mama Manx ham it up when I photograph them, while the male cats tend to look away or walk off. The boys don't like having their pictures taken, while the girls love it! In the photo Diné is posing by the black bamboo.
In a few days we are going to have a kaleidoscope of tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths in the yard as they're coming up in all the beds close to the house. My cameras are salivating over the thought of all those colorful flowers.
