Bestiary Today

My personal Bestiary is made up of such beasts as Gatus Guildensternus, Eye of Rosencrantz and peeping Stretchae.

Gatus Guildensternus is known to pop out from under hats and give you the evil eye when you are walking around the garden; although his evil eye may only be directed at certain photographers. He will flash his white whisker and purr loudly to dispel any bad feelings you may hold toward him giving you the evil eye.

Rosencrantz is able to pass through walls in what has become known as a Rosencrantz moment. One moment he's inside, the next he's out, and vice versa.  You know you didn't let him out or in, but there he is where you were not expecting him. Not surprisingly, he always keeps an eye on you.

Peeping Stretchea might just be the original LOL cat! If he's not sitting on your chest "gargoyling" you, he's peeping through the blinds, whether he's inside or out. He is opinionated, and will tell you that you don't need to use all that water to shower and bathe, when you can simply lick yourself! Although he's gray and white, he's very green when it comes to bathing.

After yesterday's wind, today's was mild, yet today's wind was cold. We scheduled Saturday for yard work and did it despite the wind, so we had bloodshot eyes, and sinus headaches most of the day today. Other than running drippers and soaker hoses, we didn't do much yard work today.

One of the peach blossoms had a colorful base, backlit by the morning sun, making it look like a lamp with a blossom lightbulb.

Austrian Copper is budding out preparing to bloom. This old-world rose goes back to before1590, and is usually the first rose to bloom in our garden by late April into early May. Austrian Copper only blooms once. The rest of the year it grows around and through the arch, and plots with Lady Banks and Mermaid how best to hook and ensnarl us in their long, stickery canes.
