The last time I ran my car through the car wash, I did photos, of course. I was looking at some of them tonight, and they reminded me that there was a hit song named "Car Wash" from long ago. I looked it up, and it was a hit in 1976. That was the year I dropped out of high school, and first enrolled at UNM. I took music theory, ear training, and I believe English 100 my first semester. The music classes were with John Clark, who, almost 40 years later, talked me into singing in the choir at First Methodist Church, where he is music director. Music theory was really easy, but ear training about killed me. I'm not tone deaf, but I certainly can't tell you what the "fa" a "la" is or what the "do" a "re" is just by listening, let alone sing them. I worked part-time for a music store in 1976, studied jazz and classical guitar, played in a pop band, and drove a blue, 1969 VW Beetle.
As I was leaving work today, there was a guy working on the sign at the parking structure. All the angles and light from the low sun looked interesting, so I photographed it. I ordered a dozen of our favorite pens from Amazon, since I can't seem to find them in town anymore. I put them in a fan shape to celebrate getting them.
The weather is supposed to start warming up, which I'm looking forward to. One of the benefits of New Mexico is its generally mild weather, with day-time temperatures normally rising above freezing. We've hardly been above freezing for the past two weeks, and I was tired of the cold after the second day. The cars are a mess after the last snow, but it's been so cold the car washes we generally use have been closed. So I can only dream about the last time I washed my car and post a photo of what it looked like from inside the car.
